Body Under Construction
My Bio
My name is Susan Emmett and I have been in the health and fitness field since 1977. Throughout my career I have been an aerobic instructor, sales associate, manager, personal trainer and fitness director. With all of these multi task positions and advancements in the industry, the one that is most rewarding to me is one-on-one personal fitness training. So much so, I have started my own business named "Body Under Construction" by Sue.

My most recent endeavor has been the creation of the "The Biggest Loser" contest based on the popular Body-for-LIFE principles. The Body-for-LIFE Challenge is a 12-week healthy living contest based on the proven principles in the best-selling book Body-for-LIFE. Participants are encouraged to record their progress with before and after photos. They are also asked to record their inner transformation in a short essay and they are judged on the quality of their outer and inner transformation. I currently teach Pilate's, matwork & Reformer at the Discovery Bay Athletic Club and Club One in Brentwood, CA. I train clients at home on the Reformer and Bowflex Strength Training System for muscle and bone strengthening as well as shaping and toning the entire body.

In 1996, I completed 250 volunteer work hours at Bascom Physical Therapy in San Jose, as a part of my studies. I worked as an aide and provided direct supervision to patients. These duties included: setup and takedown of modalities for patient; application of hot packs, ice, ultrasound, electrical muscle stimulation, contrast baths, TENS, cervical and lumbar traction, demonstration and supervision of exercise equipment including wall pulleys, therapeutic ball, Fitron, stair climber, Nordic Track, mini tramp, BAPS board, theraband, roller, and basic back stabilization and stretching exercises.

In 1997, I worked for Silver Creek Valley Country Club in San Jose as the Fitness Director and personal fitness trainer for 4 years until our move to Discovery Bay. I used the Cybex Strength Training System, Free weights, Resist a ball, Elliptical Cross trainer, Stairmaster, and Treadmills to get and keep my clients in shape. I held health fairs, 5K Walk/Runs, Hikes, as well as Aerobathons twice a year. I taught body-sculpting and Resist a Ball classes for the members. I achieved a Pilate's Mat certification and taught this type of stretch, back, and abdominal strengthening class as well.

Prior to this, I worked for two other Health clubs in California. They are Spa Lady and First Lady Spa's, which are no longer in business. I was a manager and aerobic instructor at both clubs. I became a nutrition consultant with First Lady Spas for a year and promoted their nutritional supplements and weight loss program. I took body fat, weight and measurements weekly and encouraged well-balanced meals with exercise.

I am a certified personal trainer through (AFAA) the American Fitness Assoc. of America and a member of (IDEA) the International Dance and Exercise Association. The Mind/Body Institute in the Pilate's Method Mat work also certifies me.

Last year I attended the International Personal Training Summit in Baltimore, Maryland for training in classes to help people with diabetes in resistance training and post cancer surgery. I am continually advancing my education to enable me to help all individuals with their fitness needs and goals. I like to keep myself on the cutting edge of the advances made in the fitness industry. I attend the Body, Mind, Spirit Expo every year for educational classes and to update my certification.

Most recently I have become involved with a new product called Juice Plus, which has significant benefits for any adult or child who needs natural fruit and vegetable supplements as part of a healthy lifestyle.  To learn more about this product, please click the link:
